We are your representation and your information source
The UGSA is an organization which includes all graduate students in its
membership. Its purposes include representing graduate students in
matters which are important to them, and disseminating information
which may affect their lives here at NC State. The UGSA actively
encourages the particpation of graduate students in helping to
determine what issues are deemed most important to graduate
students currently.
The UGSA listens to its constituents, and it ensures that the
administration listens to them. There is no better way to ensure
that an important issue gets given its due than by putting it
before the UGSA.
If you have issues you wish the UGSA would discuss, contact
your GSA chapter or, if the chapter
doesn't exist, write to the current UGSA President.
We are trying to make a difference (and you can too!)
The UGSA has several standing committees that are involved in many aspects of graduate
student life. These committees are, in some senses, where the real works gets done.
It is in these committees that new ideas are formed and acted upon by dedicated
individuals who may or may not otherwise be involved with the UGSA.
The committees pay close attention to political events, student healthcare,
and orientation. They run teaching effectiveness awards, social events, and
more. If you'd like to make a difference in how these events work, there is
room for you!
You can often become involved with the UGSA just by joining a committee which
interests you. We always are looking for dedicated people to help us meet
and exceed our goals. To find out more about our committees, check out the
committees page. Contact the chair of the
committee for meeting time information, and to see if the committee is a right fit for you.
