The UGSA is an organization made up of several subgroups. The sections below are a brief description. To find out more about a particular subgroup, select from the menu on the left.
Executive Committee
Also referred to as the Executive Board, this group consists of the elected officers of the UGSA: President, Vice President of Internal Affairs, Vice President of External Affairs, Secretary, Treasurer, Travel/Thesis Fund Administrator, and Electronic Communications Officer.
Department (Chapter) and Special Interest Group Representatives
Representatives from each of the departmental chapters and from Special Interest Groups (SIGs) together make up what is referred to as the UGSA Council.
UGSA Committees
There are seven UGSA committees to address issues of importance to graduate students and to carry out various functions. The Vice President of Internal Affairs is required to serve on the Judicial and Legislative Committee, and the Treasurer is required to serve on the Finance Committee. Other appointments are voluntary.
Standing Committees
NC State has several standing committees, and many of them require, or at least desire, a graduate student representative. The UGSA sends representatives and executive officers to these meetings.
