Block Grant

Chapters can receive grants of up to $250 twice a year in order to support events within their department. Block grants are read over and voted on by the executive board. Block grants are generally used towards educational, inter-departmental events.

First: read the Block Grant Guidelines — The official UGSA block grant document.

To apply for a Block Grant, fill out this application.

Important: Does your chapter have an FAS account? You must have one to get any funding from the UGSA. To apply for an account, use the Application for FAS Account form. Instructions can be found here.

Once your chapter has an FAS account, you may apply for a block grant.

FAQ:

Q: Would you happen to know how competitive the Block Grants are?
A: Block grants are not competitive. At the moment, we fund every block grant request that meets our guidelines for a departmental academic event.

Q: What are the Departmental chapter rebates? Are these the same as the Block Grants or different?
A: Departmental chapter rebates are different than block grants. They are given to every departmental graduate student association (GSA) that is a member of UGSA and participates fully in UGSA activities per the requirements stated in the UGSA constitution. These rebates are given to the departmental GSAs to fund the activities of their individual chapters.
