Social Committee

Main responsibilities:
The Social Committee organizes social activities throughout the year for graduate students and provides refreshments at the UGSA meetings.

Main responsibilities:
The Teaching Effectiveness Committee organizes the UGSA Teaching Assistant Awards Program and helps organize the Teaching Effectiveness Seminars each summer.

Finance Committee

Main responsibilities:
The Finance Committee prepares an annual budget proposal for submission to and approval by the UGSA council and is responsible for any fund raising activities of the UGSA.

Political Action and Response Committee

Main responsibilities:
The Political Action & Response Committee keeps the UGSA informed of any political issues that affect graduate students, respond if and when necessary to political issues that affect graduate students and brings all proposed responses before the general UGSA council for a vote.

Judicial and Legislative Committee

Main responsibilities:
The Judicial – Legislative Committee enforces and reviews the constitution of the UGSA and shall make recommendations to the UGSA for improvements when necessary. This committee also reviews the constitutions of the local GSA chapters to verify compliance with the UGSA constitution. Finally, this committee determines that the local GSA chapter has fulfilled the requirements to be legally recognized by the UGSA.

Main responsibilities:
The Publicity Committee creates and distributes the UGSA newsletter, The Midnight Oil. This committee is also responsible for increasing graduate student awareness of the many services the UGSA offers.

Academic Policy Committee

Main responsibilities:
The Academic Policy Committee advises the UGSA President on academic issues and policies that affect graduate students. In addition, this committee develops, plans and executes the University Graduate Student Research Symposium. Finally, this committee works with the Graduate School to develop a comprehensive Research Ethics program for graduate students.
